What Are Epidural Steroid Injections?
When the nerves in the spine become pinched or constantly compressed, the resulting pain can feel relentless. In many cases, individuals suffering from nerve-related pain have difficulty participating in the activities they enjoy, negatively impacting their quality of life. The good news is that there is a nonsurgical solution for irritated or inflamed nerves in the spine: epidural steroid injections (ESI) at The Spine Center. These injections deliver a combination of corticosteroid and anesthetic into the epidural space (the area surrounding the spinal cord and nerves). By calming inflammation in this space, ESIs can reduce pain that travels from the spine into the arms or legs, such as sciatica or cervical radiculopathy, without the scars or recovery time that come with surgery. With multiple offices across Texas and Florida, including Houston, Austin, Dallas, and Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, The Spine Center is proud to offer epidural injections for patients looking for meaningful relief from nerve symptoms. Reach out today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Saqid Siddiqui to discover the benefits of ESIs for yourself.
How Are Epidural Injections Performed?
Depending on the area being treated, we'll have you lie either on your stomach or your side. After cleaning and numbing the area with local anesthetic, Dr. Siddiqui will carefully administer the steroid injections directly into the epidural space through a thin needle. Our practice uses fluoroscopic imaging and contrast dyes to get a clearer view of the area, ensuring a more precise approach. The entire process typically takes less than 30 minutes, after which you can resume your routine immediately.
What Are the Benefits of Epidural Injections?
Back pain is a common challenge, but when it becomes severe enough to start interfering with your activities, sleep, or rehabilitation efforts, intervention may be necessary to help restore daily function. Epidural steroid injections can provide quick relief that lasts up to months, offering benefits that include:
- Reduces inflammation around irritated nerves
- Provides relief from back, neck, arm, or leg pain
- Allows patients to participate more fully in physical therapy and daily activities
- Minimally invasive and performed on an outpatient basis
- Can help patients delay or avoid surgery with a nerve-focused approach
The Spine Center Reviews
Before I saw Dr. Siddiqui, I was almost at maximum pain medication. I was homebound most of the time the last 2 years. I spent a lot of my time in bed because lying down offered some relief from pain. My quality of life was gone. I had already tried injections, burning of nerves and physical therapy. Nothing helped. I was in dire need of surgery. My doctor reffered me to Dr. Siddiqui. What a Godsend he was! I had a Lumbar Laminectomy done. It was a day of surgery here at surgery center , I woke up from surgery pain free!! After years of deliberating pain, I thought nothing would help me. Boy, I was wrong! Dr. Siddiqui is very caring and professional. I was walking again, I got my life back. I also had to have neck surgery, which he performed about 6 weeks later. I am getting out in the world and enjoying life again! I thought I would never see this day. Thank you Dr. Siddiqui!

My hunt for a great spine and back doctor is over! I was referred to Dr. Siddiqui for a spinal fusion procedure. They took care of me from beginning to end. True service!
